About the Artist
Beth Akerman is an Ohio born and raised artist. She graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Upper Arlington, Ohio where she currently resides. She received her BFA from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio where she concentrated in printmaking and art history. After college in the late-1980's she exhibited her work in a couple of galleries and hair salons in Columbus' Short North District including the C.R. Obetz Gallery (now-defunct). She has done a number of commissioned pieces for her former stock-brokerage colleagues, current co-workers and for many, many friends over the years. She co-chaired the Childrens' Art Fest at The Wellington School in Upper Arlington, and has previously contributed her artistic skills to Wellington over the years. She has previously exhibited her work at the Upper Arlington Municipal Center and her artwork has been exhibited at several local businesses. Her work can be found in a number of private collections in the United States, Japan and Australia.
When not creating Beth works full-time in the insurance guaranty fund business, and enjoys spending time with her youngest child who is still at home, her boyfriend of several years, her friends and her three dogs and rabbit. She also enjoys fishing, knitting, photography, travelling and creating beaded jewelry.
